Unbraced pictures of Longbows and Warbows?
« on: March 04, 2012, 04:17:33 pm »
I wanted to have an idea of the set and maybe reflex of some heavy draw bows. I see a lot of braced and fully drawn bows, but not a whole lot of unbraced.

I have a hickory 80lb @28" ELB and it has about 2 1/4" set. Is this good or bad?

Also, pictures of your unbraced EWB's and ELB's would be appreciated.

I will post pictures of mine after it has been finished.

You can see one of mine in the thread below, I think 2 1/4 is respectable, however you can reduce it. What woods is your bow and how old is it?
ALways happy to help anyone get into heavy weight archery: https://www.facebook.com/bostonwarbowsbows/

Ian, it's un-backed hickory. The wood was a board at some point, and I live in southern New Mexico so it's a bit drier like hickory likes.

I know its probably bad to make an 80lb bow out of a board bow, but I tillered it very carefully and there are no grain run-offs.
