Anyone ever tried salt cedar shoots for arrows. The mighty Rio Grande river bank (which is bone dry) is chuck full of shoots.

I've used salt cedar for arrows. Made some authentic stone headed shafts, and they look great. They are a bit of a pain in the arse to straighten, but they're very tough.

Make for a very heavy weight shaft also.

I would compare them to hickory in toughness and weight, but the wood feels more silky than the hickory. The wood is dense because it looks like it is not as porous as some hardwoods. I honestly absolutely love salt cedar.
