Steam set up for billets
« on: November 04, 2011, 12:10:09 pm »

Hi all,

For those of you that don't have a gas burner and don't want to steam wood in the kitchen, this could be a solution. I usually use a gas burner to straighten out curves in a stave. My gas tank was empty, so I burned what most boywers have allot of, wood. It worked really well.

The cannister with the wood inside is from ikea, if your interested you should google ikea hobo stove. The bricks support a pan with 3 liters of water, witch I boiled using an electric water heater. On top of the pan an metal plate with a metal pipe, a couple 11/32 holes let the steam go through.

I seal the pipe with a damp cloth. I leave a small part open so the steam can escape and circulate.

greetings,

stefan
