knapped stone drills
« on: November 29, 2011, 11:32:47 am »
greetings folks-
needing the above. havent learned to knapp yet, so...
but make lots of bone tools. had a nice little flint drill someone gave me yrs ago that i used for just that-drilling into bone and wood.
well, i finally broke it and am needing a replacement.
really like two, one very small. think drilling an eye in a bone needle, and one larger for other tasks.
would prefer they were made in a style that they could be hafted to a shaft to make a hand or bow drill.

if you are willing to make these tools, please give me a holler and we can see if i have something that you would be willing to trade for.
thanks

have you got any pics of the old drill, just to get an idea of the size, Bub
failure is an option, everyone fails, it's how you handle it that matters.

Sadie, Is that the one you wore out?  I'm not lookin' for much, but when my finger heals up I've got some real hard green chert that I'll have a go @ a drill or two with.  It may be this time next week though.  If you're secured by then I'll have me a couple of new stone drills, no worries.  ;)

If that puppy is pretty thick, I've got several attempted points that look pretty close to that now.  Too thick and too narrow. :(  :-[ :-[
