sinew backed juniper short bow
« on: September 21, 2011, 05:33:27 pm »
I posted a picture of the entire set I made, bows arrows and quiver. I got all the materials here in Utah (besides the otter quiver). So I modeled it to the Southern Paiute. The bow is Utah juniper with 3 layers of elk sinew. 35" ntn and pulls 64# at 20". Not the easiest bow to shoot and control at full draw, but lots of power. The string is 3 ply deer backstrap sinew and the handle brain tanned bison.
Thanks for looking
Chuck

Very nice, Chuck!  I'm into the shorties, myself.  You do a nice job with replications.

I agree with IndianGuy.
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

Howdy,  35" ntn and a 20" draw.   Holy overdraw Batman!  Nice work.     Ron
