I took a couple preforms I had ready that were too thick and went after them today.  I decided to get them thin or ruin them trying.  Consequently I got 2 bird points, 80 grains on the chert and 60 on the obsidian.  On the obsidian, along with bleeding alot, I kept knocking off the tip.  It would have been a pretty nice point.  Lost the symmetry at the end and finally just quit before I had a half inch long point.  In both cases I tried corner notching but knocked off a corner.  Not my best day but still fun.

 Those little points will still kill a deer or hog with a well placed shot.

Well actually stemmed points work real well for hunting points.The only problem I ever had with them was never retrieving a point from a deer. I lost everyone I ever shot.Those should work just fine.

Thanks all.  I brought them into work this morning where 1 person declared the obsidian point was my best yet.  Struck me funny.  My work friends are really easy to please. ;)  The obsidian has me stymied.  Seems just a slight difference in angle changes the flake from a step to an overshot to too shallow.  And, whatever the worst possible outcome can be seems to be where I naturally go.  :(  Seems to need more abraiding too.  And then there's the bleeding... :P  Makes pretty points though.
