I tired it and don't know if this is the variety but this is one I pulled up:

Appreciate it but that isn't the one I am looking for.
Tried for 2 weeks to find the correct name of this tree and finally took it to a Clemson University extension. The nice folks there
did not know but they found out for me. The trees I have are actually a Carolina sub species of the Cherry Laurel.
Been around this wood all my life and I think it will make a bow. Gonna find out.
