This is a good example of the right bow for the particular piece of wood. You nailed this bow for sure.  ;)  The full draw pic is right on! Well done!   8)

good job.  as it turns out, I have been doing something similar.  I've been on a board bow kick, trying to make something that i really like to shoot and would hunt deer with. mine are 64-66" long, 1" wide, last 12" or so tapering to 3/8" at tip.  they are backed with burlap and just barely bend in the handle (no riser). I absolutely love how they perform.  it's a real eye-opener for me, cause up until now I have always worked with osage. I have one from red oak and another from maple. the next will be hickory. Once again, great job man, and i know for a fact how satisfying this type of (simple) bow can be.

Mullet- lol... That try oil can be a hassle but I found a way to put it one that works great.. I apply a very thin late to the bow, then set it length wise behind my basements dehumidifier which puts out very dry warm air. I flip the bow around after about an hour an a half, so that the other side can dry. It works great and drys that try oil very evenly in no time....

Ken75- please don't do that ;D I would be heartbroken!!

Jimmy- these bows sure can perform when tillered well and i definitly have a sweet spot for them. Even unbacked boards can be pushed to extremes and still be very durable... I also found that a one or two runoffs on the side of the bow is pefectly acceptable as Long as you round the edges. Good luck on your hickory...
