I guess it makes sense that we should not overstress the stave. But as I just make target bow for myself, I don't worry too much about set. If it happens, I heat treat the belly. If that is not enough, I steam bend the tips. Still it would be nice to know how much faster we can make the bow shoot by using "no set tillering" instead of reducing the set through heat treating and steam bending after it happened.
