Sorched an osage bow....?

I was doing some limb straightening and gone it a little bit too hot! haha the back of the limb is a little toasted along one edge. Is it ok? Or does it compromise the integrity of the limb? Thought I might stain the limb when I get it done so it isn't so obvious.

I'm sure it is fine. Give it some time to rehydrate though. Jawge

Osage is some tough stuff.  It should be fine. Like George said give it some time to rehydrate.  If it is just the edge of the limb you can probably sand or lightly scrape it and most of the darkness will come off.  If not, some aniline dye is a good way to darken the wood without really darkening it too much.

Were you using an oil in the straightening process? If so you might want to use more next time.I usually soak the wood down with veg. oil, and add more through the the process. If it didn't crack or split you should be ok.  Like the other guys said, let the wood rehydrate. Good luck on the bow.
