Couple Fish Points and Arrow

Here are a couple points and an arrow Iv made to get ready for summer.  The first point is made from a deer leg.  The arrow is cane, 48" long, and all the wraps are yucca fiber covered in super glue.  The point is made to come out of arrow after the fish is shot.  Anybody have suggestions on how to attach a line to the point and arrow?  I want to use it on bullfish and stingrays, which pull very hard when shot/speared.  I will attach the line to a float/buoy but still need to be able to pull the ray up with the line attached to the head.




This is made from cane.  The wraps are also yucca fiber sealed with super glue.

Cool looking points. If it was me, I would just drill a hole in the bone for the line.
How did you make you're yucca thread? If there is one fiber plant I have access to, it's yucca.

Thanks guys.  Bevan I retted the yucca leaves in water for a month or so last summer then scraped the leaf matter off the fibers.  I used the fibers as is after this process.

Ever used it for a bow string? Sewing thread instead of sinew? just wondering. I like the way it looks on your points.

I have made a bowstring out of yucca but have never had it on a bow lol.  Basically its just for looks since I think I made it too small and it would break.  I havnt tried using it as thread but have heard that certain tribes did where it grew naturally.  You probably already know but I used the yucca fibers on the point/arrow because it will be getting wet.  Indians used plant fiber for these wraps instead of sinew because sinew would get soft from the water and come off if the sinew wasnt sealed with pitch or something.

i have seen some artifact bone arrow points like that
these were from the inuits
they had a hole just below and in front of the barb closest to the shaft
then they threaded the cordage thru there
