Where do you live?  I can't make it tomorrow but I live in Sylva, NC.  I'm new to this site and primitive archery in general.  Would love to learn to knap though, I've tried a few times made a couple gun flints for my rifle.  If we're neighbors I'd love some firsthand instruction.

If there is anybody interested in coming that doesnt knap that is interested, come on, I'll send ya home with a few things to get ya started.  I'm still a novice/rookie but I have some thunder chert and one copper bopper (I think) and a copper pressure flaker, and could maybe scrounge some potential wooden billets up that'd need shaping.

Great time. I managed to break everything I touched without getting close to a preform, let alone a point. Just didnt have it today.

Hospitality and good fellowship were excellent. Curt has an excellent place for a knap in.  Great meeting new people. Lyman, was nice putting a face with a name, as well as you Curt, and Matt(if youre on this forum) and all the others I met that may or may not have handles on here.  Thanks for inviting us!

Piper, I had a great time and great food. Your families willingness to open their home to strangers is appreciated. I am attaching a few pictures of the group knapping and enjoying new friendship. I even heard about a blind child that knaps flint, which did not boost my confidence much. Not to be out done I had to mention a dog I heard of that knapped flint, who was taught by a blind child...All in fun and good times. I don't know enough about it to say what different kinds of rocks were being broken, but I did see some really thin and nice preforms made. Look forward to the next one!
