Here's a knife I just finished up for a 14 year old girl to give to her on her first ever hunt.

Damned Jonathan,
That is one sweet knife.....'course it just happens to be my favorite blade type and size, just love them short/wide/drop points. very nice character to the steel as well......hell it's just a great knife.

No, it's just maple dyed with Rit, Frank. After I dyed it I hit it with some 600 grit and steel wool to try to get closer to pink.

Mind explaining how you 'aged' the blade?

Just soaked it in vinegar, and a little bath in Clorox, then back in the vinegar one more time.

How long did you let them soak?

Can't remember exactly. I know one of the vinegar soaks was all day. Basically I just eyeball it and pull it out when it looks like I want. There's a good bit of info available online for "antiquing" metal. I used to do a lot of it when I was making contemporary antique decoys.
