Some more cane arrow questions

From what I have been reading you use the big end as the point and small end as the nock, is that right? I am confused I guess. Have not made too many arrows other than a few from dowels. Another question is do you have to foot them if using sinew for wrapping? Would it be the same for arrows made from shoots? Just getting into making arrows want to get it right, Thanks, Eric.

  No need for footing unless you want just to do it.
