That looks like a good way to use short peices of wood that won't make much otherwise........got the ol' brain ticking now.

when I built this I didnt have the taps or inserts for attaching the limbs, on this pic of another one I'm building you can see where the hickory strip is, drilled the holes befor cutting and installed tee nuts, cost $1.00 and impossible to come out
