BBH spliced board bow
« on: January 09, 2011, 02:06:50 pm »
It's been snowing a lot here in the North Carolina mountains and i'm spending the days in my studio. Here is a bow I made from a 40" hickory board. I stacked the pieces and cut the splice on my bandsaw. When I glued the splice I tweaked a little set forward into the bow. After cleaning everything up I glued the boo on Perry style. 68" tip to tip and it pulls a healthy[for me at 64 years} 58 lbs at 28"

Congratulations on a very nice bow, Grunt and one with what can be a difficult combo.

I agree.....that's a very nice bow and a simple clean design.
I like the idea of setting the backset in the splice. I may have to try that with the hickory boards I have .

Nice Job!

That handle looks great!  Luv to see a full-draw pic.  Something tells me thats going to be a fast bow.  Good job.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'll get a shot of the bow unbraced. Zero string follow. I need to shoot this bow in but if I miss the target I won't find my arrow till spring. Eight more inches coming tonight and tomorrow. One of you guys needs to come and visit so we can get a shot of full draw.
