Was looking around doing a little research on short indian bows and found this on youtube.

Nice paddle bow, Intresting, however the way he is doing the sinew would be a pain to do that way and doesn't saturate the sinew enough to get maximun shrinkage and potential of the sinew.  Maybe why they had to reverse string the bow for the reflex.
If you soak the sinew in warm glue for several minutes then strain between the fingers it becomes much more pliable  (like wet hair) and easier to apply, and then it will actually shrink and pull an otherwise flat bow into a perfect reflex. It is also much easier to press the sinew into the wood when presoaked.
Not trying to discredit the video just wanting to help some to know there is much easier and better ways then that. ;)

So, you chew the fish bladder and then spit out the glue? Better not swallow! Might have to go searching for a laxative as that glue sets up!  :o

I agree to what Keenan said. But thats the way he`d learnt it from his father and it worked thousands of years. Are there any advantages in doing this way? I don`t think so.
What is to be seen and remarkable, that even very  short sinewparts were used. I think thats typical Native way: not waisting any part of an animal.

That is cool, man those bows are thin. I never thought of making mock orange 1/4 sawn arrow shafts always used The shoots, Hmmmmmmmm idea. I like the part when is carring the dead red tail so illegal for most people.
