This Baby Shines
« on: December 15, 2010, 09:32:22 pm »
finally got my baby back from the gunsmith and it's a shooter, just ask hillbilly.  we ran about 40-50 rounds through her this past weekend and each group could be just about covered up with your hand at 35 feet.  the grips are some flaming cocobola.  enjoy!

That came out really nice. What did you take the picture with, a Spy camera?

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

i honestly can't say what all he put in it, everything i think.  i have a list somewhere, but when i handed him the gun i told him to make it into a true special forces combat pistol.  i know that there are no factory parts on the inside, everything is custom.  i'm fairly sure it's a wilson combat trigger pulling 3.5 pounds.  he readjusted the safety squeeze to engage at the edge of the main spring housing.  he also stippled the front strap and ms housing.  it was milled for a trijicon front sight and a custom milled combat rear sight.  the sides of the slide have been polished using 600 grit to help with a quicker draw and all the angles have been milled off the slide.  he also did a special bluing job on the grip screws and some of the other pins.  we were so happy with the way it turned out that he's wanting to take it to ga. to show some famous .45 guy who trained him on customizing pistols and let him critique his work.  i can honestly say it's the best shooting and most accurate automatic i've ever shot.  i'm planning on taking to ga. after christmas and maybe try for a small hog with it.

Now, that's down right pretty. And I saw it shoot when it wasn't.

Sweet looking piece. I could never shoot a pistol well.   Is it Eddie Bradley he is bringing it to. Eddie Bradley was the world champ .45 shooter from Savannah.  I saw Eddie do a demo at an oyster roast in Bluffton. He hung a playing card from a string and in a breeze cut the card in half as it swung in the breeze. It did take him two or 3 shots to achieve this.  ::)

I've never seen a trigger like that. What's the theory behind it?

the holes cut down the weight of the trigger allowing for a crisper break when it's squeezed.  forgot to add that it has a special case hardened combat hammer.  i'm also thinking about adding a titanium firing pin to decrease lock time.

very nice, nothing better than a custom .45 acp
i have all WILSON CUSTOM COMBAT internals, safties, extended main spring shaft and springs and bushing etc etc,
very fun to shoot with the red dot on top too

the only thing thats missing on yours and mine
would be the serrations on the front of the slide to make for a better grip when racking the slide from the front and not the rear

That is the only handgun platform that I can use with any accuracy!  I just looooove it, mostly because of the long long long history of that design!

Yep, that is sure one sweet shootin' pistol. I'm not a great semi-auto pistol shot, but I was getting some tight groups with that'un.
