I'm headed home to Maine, haven't been back in over 6 years.  We'll be leaving Monday morning.  All my family is up there Keenan, It's just me, my wife, and baby down here in AZ.

Just found this Thread Nate...I know how it feels to be so far from Loved Ones...and then have health problems strike...all my Family is in Upper Michigan...and My Wife and I are the only ones away from Home also...when my Dad had all of His Cancer Problems...the Distance seemed all the Larger...My Hopes and Prayers to You and Yours....God Bless.

Thanks again guys.

Mike, I have been seriously thinking of moving back home.  The time away has served it's purpose but I think Mackenzie deserves to be around her grandparents, aunts and uncles and such.  Maine job markets are horrible in a good economy though...So we'll see.

Sorry to hear this Nate. I hope you get to have a good visit with your family in spite of concerns for your dads health.

Moving or not is a hard decision to make. I can appreciate your wanting Mackenzie to know her family. My dad died when I was a teenager and my mom died when my kids were very young. My kids never really got to know either of them.

Nate all of my Kids were raised away from all of their relatives...they got to see them for a week or two almost every year that they were growing Up...but this last Summer We ( both our Sons and my Wife) spent 3 1/2 weeks up in Upper Michigan with Family...first time in 6 years all together....and I think that they got to know their relatives better in this period ...than in all of the other visits combined....If I had to do it all over again....I would never have put myself into a position where I was forced to leave Home...Family is more important than any Material Thing you can work for and Purchase...this is my honest opinion...Have a Good visit...and we will all keep You and Your Family in Our Thoughts

Thanks guys.  I appreciate your thoughts on raising Mackenzie away from "home".  If I can find a job with health insurance then we may very well make the move.  A lot of things would have to come together to make it possible but I have to admit I have my own selfish motives to go home.  I miss it too ;)  My priority while I'm there is quality time with my Dad but I think I might pound the pavement a bit and see if I can't make some connections at least.

Thanks again guys.  I'm off to bed, got an awfully early morning drive to the airport.

Nate, there are worse things than living away from family. I have seen a lot of people that rely to much on family and never learn to rely on their spouse and appreciate all that they do for them. My sister in law would rather talk to her sisters and mother than talk to her husband. Being able to run home to easy can sure cause some problems.
