Well, not really primitive skills, but sure usefull stuff: some hand sewn bow socks I made from Swiss, German and Ex-GDR Army blankets. All applications are quality leather.

Those are very nice! I do a similar thing, except I use a heavy dark green canvas, with a suede bottom. Actually, my wife sews them... I can't sew worth a sour shite!!

Part of the sewing was done on a machine (Thanks mom), but most of it by hand.
I've used canvas before, too, but I really like the ones from wool plankets now.

Very nice. I use 6 foot long pieces of pipe insulation from a plumbing supplies shop, and tape up one end with gaffer tape. Not very primitive, but very cheap and effective protection.

Well yes, insulation pipe does the job, especially when you carry several bows in the trunk of your car; I've seen that in use.
