James Parker from North Carolina takes Backed Bows for July 2010!
Congratulations to James Parker for his Backed bow win with his Egyptian Chariot Composite Bow. Here's what James had to say about how it was created:
From James:Angular composite bow - horn, maple, sinew, 55" tip to tip--56#@29"..White Birch bark covering, alternating bands of outside and inside bark. gold silk string.. this bow finished out really nice,,shoots well with an above average speed,,would have been even better if i had waited a couple more months before bracing, but still a good shooter..next one of these i build will be a little shorter ,maybe 52". The hand shock is very minimal, used a three piece maple core with spliced in horn tips..the white birch bark is put on alternately, white is the outside of bark, the gold is the inside of the bark...birch bark can be a pain in the butt to apply.... enjoy -James
