Mayan bow Done!
« on: July 26, 2010, 06:39:07 pm »
Finally completed the mayan bow. I really like the way this one turned out its an absolute beuty. The bow is about 56 inches long, has a reflex reflex design and draws about 45-50lbs @ 24 inches. It is sinew backed Mulberry from a stave I cut on febuary or march, dont remember. I carved some Mayan heiroglyphs on the belly. the Heiroglyphs are from a place in yucatan called copan, and they are inscribed in a stone, now they are on my bow jeje. I also put some paper mache on the handle area for cosmetic purposes. The nock has a carving of quetzalcoatl. The bow was a little of to the side, hence the nocks to one side. So far my favorite bow, and fast shooter. i still have to seal it.I will do that today. Today while looking at my university account I found I wont be receiving much financial aid because the state decided to go bankrupt so the terrible news for me is I may have to sell this one : ( really sucks but school is first. anyway here are the pics enjoy! you can also take a look at the buildalong I have on my site. i will be posting arrows im making for this one soon. Thanks for looking.

Really nice bow man.  I like how you carved on the belly and still got a great tiller on it.  Got it bookmarked for July Self Bow Of the Month too.  :)

If you sell it you will have to build another to replace it. And another, and another, and another. Selling one every now and then is good as it makes room for more.

Now that's a bow to show off! We see many nice bows on here, but when I see someone post a bow that no one else is doing, it stands out just for that reason. Plus, this is a good looking bow.

Great tiller on that full draw shot, love the funky single nock thing, very organic looking.
