Ya probably know that I like to build authentic NA bows, and includes arrows. Well, thought it would be cool to make some birding/ small game arrows in the Eastern Woodland pattern. Most of these types are common all over, in one form or another. I thought these were cool because the head is carved when the shaft is (not glued on).
Ken 75 sent me some arrow shafts (in my usual flying telephone pole size) and 3 were IPE. Carved out the head and tapered the shafts 1/8" towards the knock but stopped short of the actual knock and carved in a bulbous end (gripping surface) and went with the regular 3 fletch glued and tied fore & aft. The arrow finish is my regular concoction of deer fat, spruce pitch and small amount of candle wax.
