Help!
« on: May 12, 2010, 03:15:30 pm »
Some years ago I read an account of a spaniard explorer who ventured from florida to mexico during the 1500s. I believe his name was alvar nunes cabeza de vaca. anyway he claimed that these natives from florida I believe used longbows that were so strong it would take great strenght to pull, and that their bone points could penetrate armor. Im interested if any specimens have been found or what other records are there if any. thanks for any input.

Posted this somewhere else but I guess no one knows much. Appreciate any help.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about, but I read something similar.  I thought that I read that the natives were shooting reed shafts with a hardwood footing and the hardwood footing was sharpened.  This way the arrow could pentrate the chainmail armor by going between the "wire" rather than breaking it with a broader arrow head.
