Stave on ebay
« on: April 20, 2010, 11:20:54 am »
What do you guys think of this stave?

How hard would it be to get the twist out? Is it a very good stave?

If you never have time to do it right, you'll always have time to do it over.

Looks pretty good to me. I don't see much twist in it at all, and what little I do see would not even be a problem if left in. I say bid on it.

You're welcome. Just my opinion though. Others may differ. The only concern I would really have on it is not that big of one, but that he says the stave is 1 1/2 to 3" wide.  1.5" wiide for a stave not worked down to the back growth ring is kind of narrow and could be an issue if that narrow spot is where mid-limb will be. Of course, if it's on the ends or where the handle will be, then it won't be so much an issue at all. I would also say to contact the seller first if possible and find out where the narrowest spots are.

That's a good point but he actually said 1 3/4 and in the picture it looks like a consistent taper.  Besides its too late I already bid on it.

That's true. Still 1 3/4 is kind of narrow for a stave. But it does look like a good one and evidently other people are bidding too. Good luck!

I've ordered many staves from Lavern, and they've all been top quality.
