I just got hold of some sassafras staves First could you make a good self bow unbacked? second is the sap wood supposed to come off or stay on? I have staves with both sap wood and heart wood intact, and staves with just heart wood this stuff looks good!! or should I back it? I guess I'm looking for a plan thanks guys for any help I now have all the staves coated w/ white glue JEFF W

the sasafras bows I have made I left the sap wood on,,not a very tough wood,,, make them long, wide, and low poundage mike
