truoil or polyurethane after backing?
« on: April 07, 2010, 08:09:27 pm »
howdy yall
What would be best after backing a bb. 2-3 coats of poly or several coats of truoil. the wood is red oak, and I am either going to back with silk or rawhide. I will probably lean more toward silk, not sure. I would prefer to back with wood, but don't have alot of tools like a table saw. by the way...2nd attempt...still learning....thanks to everyone here.

Thanks for input

Just like Scott said...put on enough coats to fill in the Fabric...so the Bow is smooth and glossy...and sand or steel wool between each coat....Black Silk will look soaking wet after enough coats that it will look like FG... :P

I like the bow pic, but am I seeing things wrong? That looks like the belly not the back of the bow.

Another pic of the back?
