aven lee (sp)? points new link on first post
« on: March 15, 2010, 11:02:06 pm »
here are a couple aven lee (sp*) points i made today. modeled after a common style of my area. I made them for a landowner friend of mine that is gracious enough to allow me to hunt and look for arrowheads on his farm. he seems to have a wealth of knowledge of the local aboriginals and a great interest in flintknapping.

www.lithiccastinglab.com/gallery-pages/2003januaryavonleapointspage1.htm     here is a link i found on them. the style infact is not what i have made. nor the style my farmer friend though but interesting just the same.

thanks. the one on the left is actually done pretty nicely, the one on the right isn't quite as uniform. you can see the smooth section in the middle. and i kept breaking the ears off it/.....just didnt know when to say "when".

Those have a great form.  What's the name's origin - is aven lee where they were found?

thanks again.
yeah roger is dacite. probably the easiest stone for me to work....but man i wish they made it in another color.....same ol black every time

i think the name was either originated by the person he found them here...i guess cause i havent seen anyplace named aven lee yet....although  with all the tiny towns and such its hard to say.   i told him it looked like a hardin point to me (more the one on the right than the one on the left)   too many names for these things
