New shootin bag &horn

 Built a new rifle so I needed a new bag and horn of course. Nuthin fancy just functional. I made the pouch knife from and old hickory blade. Lot more work on these items then one thinks there is.

  That is a a nice set, Tim. Is that a ball starter in that set?

 Thanks Mullet,Yea, I made it from a piece of elk horn. There is also a powder measure from horn.

Great looking stuff, Tim. I've been working on a couple myself lately, lots of hours can go into one of those sets before you know it.

 I read an interesting article in Muzzleloader Magazine about ball starters. The article said there was no evidence in history they were used before modern times. It said most shooters in the old days filed a groove or grooves in the crown of their barrels. I did this on my 50 and I can push my ball and patch in with my thumb.

Mullet, you can buy a coning tool that will make a slight taper in the muzzle end, makes thumb pushing  easy. I might try that.
