Pappy, I thought maybe that was what you were up to. I have a hefty hickory handle with a 2-1/2" leaf spring mounted on the end that I have used for softening in the frame, looks like a narrow canoe paddle. The only part of frame softening that I didn't like is if you get tired you can't bag it without lacing and re lacing. I have a friend not far from here that hand soften and the for the final push he laces hide up and finishes in the frame, He has a video out that shows him lacing a hide up in under 5 min, defiantly isn't his first rodeo, A word to the wise be careful on edges and thin spots It is easy to poke holes and they get pretty big with the size of prod
