New Knife (First One)
« on: February 03, 2010, 02:35:44 am »
Well I have been messing around with some obsidian a friend gave me..,...   I couldnt do anythig with it, so I watched some videos on U tube and played around some more.  I decided to get the tile saw out and cut some slabs.  First I Knapped an ISHI style point, then started on the blade cut outs I made.  Here are the pics of the FIRST knapped blade I have made to date.  Give me all the comments you can I know it is not anywhere near the blades you guys produce, but I am happy with it.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks guys. About the addiction thing, I think it happens the first time you  try to flake a rock, it starts early.

I think it looks pretty awesome... I can't wait for my wrist to heal so I can start knapping...  If my first knife turns out half that cool I would be happy!   :)   -josh

Yeah guys it is really easy to cut.  I just use a tile saw it takes a while to cut one but it works. I cut them about 1/4 to 3/16 just kinda eyeball it and it has worked so far.
