I've never used it. If you have access to hickory or bamboo, they would definately be a better choice... as I'm sure you already know. I guess there's only one way to find out.

Parnel,
made some self bows from fully quartersawm white oak, they worked real well...they seemed a little bit sluggish compared to some others but that wood was hell for tough AND supple. With ipe powering it from the belly side I sould think it be real good.
