first wooden bow help wanted?

okay im going to "attemp" to try and make my FIRST wooden long bow.. i have a hickory stave thats been drying for about 1 1/2 years and now im ready to begin making it. The only problem i have is knowing where to start hahah i would be very greatful if you would take some time of yours to list the directions on how to make one. im not trying to make a beautiful perfect bow, just a bow thats around 40# of pull thank you very much

I would go with a flatbow or pyramid style bow. thats just what I like and I Find them Fairly easy to make. JMO.

prim. length 66" to 68" , stiff or nonbending handle , and i would go atleast 1 3/4 at the fades , try keeping the center three foot same width and then taper to 1/2 inch nocks. go slow post pics for advice from some of these guys .

Get more staves and keep making bows. You'll probably (maybe not) screw up the first 2-3. I go with the "do"...don't "try". Look at all of the examples documented at this wonderful site! Tom
