"Lotta Help from My Friends"
« on: November 30, 2009, 09:12:12 pm »
I finally got the tru-oil and polysatin on her and some pictures. This bow was started back in Sept. and wasn't worked on for over a month while we waited for her to dry out some to put on the form. Pappy, GregB, and BigA coached me back in Sept. on the finer points of debarking and getting down to a growth ring. Then laying it out and cutting it out and shaping. That was as far as we got in Sept.  I brought it home for over a month then took it back the first week of Nov. Then with Lotta Help from the boys this is the final product. 62" NTN, 57@27 and a sweet shooter! Got the diamondback skins from Mike Yancy on phone call and overnight to get them to Pappy's so we could finish before I came home. Cow horn tips and a GregB simple grip. That took some doing! Hope the pictures work.

Very cool bow, Dave. Lots of cool snaky bows come from Twin Oaks and you had a few of Twin Oaks best helping you along.  8)  You better bring twice as many stuffed peppers for the next Classic as payment.  ;D ::)

Thanks guys. You got that right about being hooked. I have been watching at the Classic for some time as other people built their bows. I finally got to do one this late summer. I was going to start one back in April but, Pappy and them were too busy getting ready for the Classic. That's when Pappy gave me Second Chance. It's a great bow also. Proven last year during the dear season by Pappy  himself, and this year on my yearling doe. Now I just have to get all my tools and get some more wood! I've got a starter kit Pappy donated to me. PatB, I have to bring peppers just to come down the hill, that's rule one. Again, thanks to Pappy, GregB, and BigA for their patience and help.
