How do I prepare raw bamboo I harvested for backing a self-bow? Particuarly at the nodes.

The nodes require no special treatment. Just split it, let it dry, and then flatten the inside with a belt sander, jointer, hand tools or whatever you have.

One thing, don't do like me and sand down the nodes to the power fibers. In fact from now on, I will only take off the rind in between the nodes. Learned my lesson.

Yep leave the nodes proud.You will want about 1/8" thick in the center of the boo
