Couple of no tiller bow projects

Not much time to work on bows lately, so i've being tinkering with the fast no tiller put together bows.

I have no idea if they gonna work, i just tied them up and should be able to get them bending in the next furute, ( surf permitting  ;D )

the Guava one is 2 saplings butted together to take advantage of the natural tapering, than 2 flattened sapling tied on the back and one more shorter one

The bamboo one is from one pole I cut, than the 2 main long pieces are back to back, the shorter slats this time are tied on the belly side with a shorter power lam wedged under the second lam

That boo sure faded, though the grip, at least, still looks nice.  Does the rest still have some of the nice color variation?  Did you temper the inside of all pieces?

So, what is wrong with what the bamboo looks like now, Steve? I think it looks great.

Manny's craftsmanship is exceptional here, as with his regular bows.

yeah it does fade a lot as it dryes, hopefully will get some color back with the finish,...i tempered the inside of the slat I used for the back, and the outside of all the others that are facing the belly.

...baby is taking a nap, so i'm going down to start the bending process on the Guava one,...i'll bend it in small increments untill it gets to brace hight than i'll let it sweat for a while before starting to bend it more,..let's see what happens  ;D

Ho well, the guava bow is a bit of a failure,..too much bend at the butting and too little weigth :-[

so I put it away, it will make a nice wallhanger  :D

The bamboo bow on the other hand looks really promising, it pulls 45# @ 17", and has taken no set so far, i had to rewrap the handle a bit further down since one limb is definatly stronger,...i migth even narrow the outher limbs, if I'm not to lazy ;D


if itstays together it should make a farely heavy bow
