D-bow design question

I have a 55" hickory d-bow laid out at 1 1/4" then tapering the last 8 inches at the tip to 1/2", but I'm rethinking this design a bit.  Would a straight taper from the handle to the tip be a better design?

I would say that a constant taper from fades to the tip would be a better design. Would at least be easier somewhat in tillering because materail removal is taking place in your limb width taper...instead of more in the limb thickness reducing taper to the tips. We usually alway prepare pyrimid bows for when we have new folks making bow such as during the Tn. Classic because they are easier to tiller, and it is a very good design as well.

Either way will work, but I usually taper from the handle or from midlimb.

I like the taper starting about a foot from the tip - sort of like your plan

Thanks Hillybilly and snedeker.  I redrew the pattern on the bow with a taper from the handle.  I think it look more graceful and less "club" like that.  And, as GregB pointed out it might make tillering a little easier.  Heaven know I could use all the help I can get in that department.     I did make a tillering gizmo yesterday
