Matt, I was there 2 years ago last Thanksgiving and went to the Smithsonian, The Museum of the American Indian and the Natural History Museum and took pics of every bow and arrow I saw along with many other pics. ;D  I'll have to go back through some discs and locate them. I'll PM you when I find them.

I don't know if there are public domain pics of the arrows you're talking about; but if you'll get Jim Hamm and Steve Allely's Bows, Arrows, and Quivers of the Native Americans vol. 1, it has detailed drawings of several old Cherokee arrows plus loads of other interesting stuff.

What Hillbilly said.  Both volume 1 and 2 are excellent resource books.

I own another book, which is a 1895 reprint. I`ll have a look at and if there are interesting things for you Matt, I`ll send them with the other parts.

Have you seen my "Eastern Woodlands Two-Flecth" thread in the how-to section?  There's a few pics in there.  I also reference Jim Hamm's book. ;D

Here is a link to the The National Museum of the American Indian one of my buddies helped with the grand opening and used to work there, I think he still has a bunch of friends there and I might try and talk him into giving me a "tour" at some point.

HEy Cherokee,

I'm going to the Smithsonian in mid-August to conduct research for a series of articles that will be presenting various bows and arrows from across the U.S. in Primitive Archer Magazine.  And the series will start with the eastern U.S. and will include detailed photos of two original Cherokee bows and several arrows that were collected from the eastern Cherokee band in North Carolina.  The articles will debut early next year, so keep your subscription to Primitive Archer current because you'll want to keep this series as a reference.  These articles will be showing the real deal Holyfield, so be patient... I'm gonna get them out ASAP!!!
