Good dimensions for White Ash 70"

I just got a white ash stave.  Its 70" long.  I figured I will keep it 70" and shoot for 55lbs.  Still has some drying to do probably.  I was reading thru the TBB1 and they recommend making the fades 2" wide half way up the limb.  I figured thats pretty excessive.  So I started drawing out a design and figured 10" up the limb make it 2" and pyramid to the 1/2" tip.

Would it handle 1 3/4" at the fades?

  Ash varies in density more than most woods do, itmight go anywhere from an sg of about 55 to 70. I would think that for  70" long bow 1 3/4 would be plenty. If the wood is dense and heavy even a bit narrower. Steve

Ditto. I would go at least 1 3/4" from fades to midlimb, usually makes a good reliable ash bow. Ash is great wood, but it does tend to take a little more set than some other woods. Some of my favorite shooters have been made from white ash.
