As a species we're fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up ways to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion.

Well I am out of this,BigA's is looking good and I think Greg's is all but finished.Big A got his out to draw and missed the weight a little so he piked it and flipped the tips and also heat treated the belly,as for mine it Blew.So instead of the 3 it will only be 2. :( The first pictures are mine the last are BigA's as he moves along. :)

I hated that yours broke...the wood must have been brittle in the spot where it broke. Maybe that spot had been near a knot or the wood was even stressed while still a tree. It was looking really good!

Pappy, sorry to hear about your bow.  If it's any comfort, it does give hope to us newbies who break our first attempts knowing that even a skilled bowyer like yourself will occassionally run across a piece of wood that refuses to be a bow.  Thanks for sharing.

Ya that's one of the main reasons I posted it,some think that they all turn out good but I can assure you they don't.I don't break as many as I use to but still break them now and then.Anyone that makes wood bow break them from time to time. That is why I have always told people just starting,
DON'T FALL IN LOVE WITH A PIECE OF WOOD. it can and will sometimes break your heart.  :)

I'm still in on this project. I just put the second layer of sinew on. I going to give it a couple weeks and then finish the tiller. Then I have to try and come close to Gregs finish work. Big A

Pappy sorry for your misfortune. Maybe yours can be 2.5 of one when you get the other billet attached with the take down sleve.     Kenneth
