well, heres my feeble attemp so far. the tallahasse dalton is coastal plain and the horse creek is a little nodguel i found at at a motel in tennesse in the gravel they use for landscape.

Calf creeks sound good. Most of the one's in my id book have the ears already broken off or worked down anyway

I've tried them on a few occasions,and always end up with snapping ears. A buddy told me to keep the preform wide,thin the base well and run the notches. Then go back and bring the sides in to finish. Never tired it....yet.

Thin the base first then run the notches using inderect pressure flaking. Then thin up the rest. Make sure the basic shape is there before thinning the base though!

Hmm, that sounds a little spooky - running the notches first. I'd be afraid that'd be more likely to snap the ears than the other way. I'm no authority on calf creeks though

Nah, Nah Timo! Inderect PRESURE flaking. Means coming from the back side of the notch not the front.
