You do have to pay a little.  I scout a good bit and I get in there well before daylight to let things settle.  I pay close attention to where they are traveling so I get close shots.  I got up this morning and went out in a pouring rain and say for 3 hours.  Saw one squirrel and one coyote but no shot.  I tried sucking on the back of my hand.  That got the yote to look but he didn't come back to investigate.  Deer were bedded down.
