Sharpening bone heads

Greetings...A buddy turned me on to this site and I registered right away. Wonderful info!!! I read the build along concerning building a bone head that anyone could do and it was great. When you are finished, how do you get bone sharp enough to use to hunt??? Do you use the usual methods of sharpening a metal point or is there a special trick to it? What few i have made, I just filed down.  They were sharp, but the point would really draw some blood.  If you make one like I did for a necklace, round the edges some.  I rolled over on it in my sleep and it hurt bad.  I did not realize I had been cut til the next morning when there was blood on the pillow.

No special trick, just use sandpaper or a file.  Bone gets pretty sharp but can't hold an edge very long.  A lot of NA bone arrowheads are serrated.
