Glossy Buckthorn(Rhamnus frangula) for bow wood???
« on: January 06, 2009, 08:02:56 pm »
Anyone know if its any good for bow wood??? If memory serves I think it was JD that posted a bow made from a variety of bucthorn
and he claimed it was good stuff. The reason I ask is I just read in the local paper that a nearby town is clearing about 4 acres of this invasive species.
Anyone have experience with it?

I got a piece haven't used  it yet it is hard heave stuff though so it should make a good bow. And if it's free that is reason enough to get a truck load and start sending it to all your brothers here on P.A. Ronnie
If we can't help each other what is the point of being here?

Cascara is a buckthorn, and I have seen several nice bows made from it. I'd give it a try.
