A few recent ones
« on: December 01, 2008, 07:36:06 pm »
Haven't had much knapping time lately, but here's a few I've knocked out in the last couple months. Several of them are on their way to new homes. :) Not the best photo. The rhyolite Savannah River in the middle is about 6 1/2" long for scale. Everything in there from rhyolite to obsidian, dacite, quartz, quartzite, Knife River, Coastal Plains, Flint River, Fort Payne, Keokuk, Pedernales, and coral.

Sweet points Steve.  What kind of tool are you using for notching.  That rhyolite point is great....dogwood billet?

David, that would be a Kirktail- somewhere between a Kirk and a dovetail.:) Jonathan, yep, wood and hammerstone on the rhyolite and quartzite, hammerstone and antler percussion on the rest. I usually use a smalll copper flaker or a horseshoe nail for notching. Bob, nope, I can halfassed make all of them, but none of them really good.

sweet points!  my favorite is the black in the middle on the left.  it looks like it's ready to kill something.
